He is a little obsessed with biking and I really wanted to get him something cool. I love the look of subway signs these days and they are very popular. So I searched everywhere, but could not find anything. So the <strike>next</strike> best thing, make it my self. So I got out my silhouette and got to work. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9WNEWbCVt8/UH4n0sTlZPI/AAAAAAAACJ0/o26so2sYTyo/s1600/IMG_0915.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9WNEWbCVt8/UH4n0sTlZPI/AAAAAAAACJ0/o26so2sYTyo/s200/IMG_0915.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
So I bought a canvas board from Joann's. It came in a 3 pack for $14.99, used a 40% off coupon and paid $9.00. Then I spray painted the board black.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--m6XMcOYOrA/UH4n6cj--WI/AAAAAAAACKM/1YJWi8Weu-s/s1600/IMG_0918.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--m6XMcOYOrA/UH4n6cj--WI/AAAAAAAACKM/1YJWi8Weu-s/s320/IMG_0918.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I then brainstormed a bunch of words that described what biking was like for my hubby. and then arranged them so they would fit on to the vinyl. Since my vinyl is only 8 inches wide and built it using 2 pieces. I lined it up on the board and stuck it down. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4DP9Cm45aM/UH4n4hWVxrI/AAAAAAAACKE/SRVSOJVNAF4/s1600/IMG_0917.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-F4DP9Cm45aM/UH4n4hWVxrI/AAAAAAAACKE/SRVSOJVNAF4/s200/IMG_0917.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EVvKgpK51ws/UH4n-uOLr1I/AAAAAAAACKg/BxOao2Lr6Kk/s1600/IMG_0921.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EVvKgpK51ws/UH4n-uOLr1I/AAAAAAAACKg/BxOao2Lr6Kk/s200/IMG_0921.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
Once it was all stuck down as best as it would, (I think I used some old vinyl cause it didn't want to stick very well)I put tape on the edges as to not get paint on them. Then I sprayed over the front with white paint. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BhXY5Uhfu2U/UH4oAdVadyI/AAAAAAAACKo/ZwhUBpaWv_Y/s1600/IMG_0922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BhXY5Uhfu2U/UH4oAdVadyI/AAAAAAAACKo/ZwhUBpaWv_Y/s200/IMG_0922.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
Then after a few lite coats of spray paint. I pulled the vinyl off. If you look close you could see that the spray paint did bleed a little bit under the vinyl. This mad me very up set being that I had already spend many hours on this project. Then I had an idea. I decided to lightly sand they whole board. I was worried that the paint would really come off but it didn't. I sanded quite a bit till I got the desired look I wanted. I like how this also gave it a little bit of an aged look. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l6LMUtnOjgo/UH4oB5w8mhI/AAAAAAAACKw/sEjlG5hCNeM/s1600/IMG_0923.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l6LMUtnOjgo/UH4oB5w8mhI/AAAAAAAACKw/sEjlG5hCNeM/s200/IMG_0923.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jLW7WUr_EQo/UH4oEDK-guI/AAAAAAAACK4/sGniLHe0yjU/s1600/IMG_0924.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jLW7WUr_EQo/UH4oEDK-guI/AAAAAAAACK4/sGniLHe0yjU/s200/IMG_0924.jpg" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The finished product! I love it and so did my hubby. This project really was so easy and so I have many more plans for more signs. </div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S7V98bOP3z4/T4dFKrY3_WI/AAAAAAAAB44/5Kuyvqc6Vgs/s1600/eggs" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-S7V98bOP3z4/T4dFKrY3_WI/AAAAAAAAB44/5Kuyvqc6Vgs/s1600/eggs" /></a></div>
Have you seen these super cute eggs made of embrodiery floss? They are all over pintrest right now and I really thought that it would be a fun idea to do with the kids. These eggs were from <a href="http://www.crafts-for-all-seasons.com/embroidery-floss-easter-eggs.html">crafts-for-all-seasons.com</a> and she has instructions on that web site also. She suggested using fabric stiffener which I didn't have on hand so I opted to use good old Elmers Glue and I think I got the same results. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nBDX8HElWgM/T4dD-wzU_vI/AAAAAAAAB3s/ze37aApkcGo/s1600/IMG_0326.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nBDX8HElWgM/T4dD-wzU_vI/AAAAAAAAB3s/ze37aApkcGo/s200/IMG_0326.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bFDnu2Xw3uc/T4dEDkNQw2I/AAAAAAAAB30/YB7jgnb-UnM/s1600/IMG_0328.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bFDnu2Xw3uc/T4dEDkNQw2I/AAAAAAAAB30/YB7jgnb-UnM/s200/IMG_0328.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
First I started by rounding up all of my string. I think the thinner the better on this but we did use a variety of sizes. I cut it into manageable strips about 18 inches or so but it doesn't need to be exact by any means. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ddJj7wgi3go/T4dD51QrH7I/AAAAAAAAB3k/mQ4NGrYYcsY/s1600/IMG_0323.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ddJj7wgi3go/T4dD51QrH7I/AAAAAAAAB3k/mQ4NGrYYcsY/s320/IMG_0323.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Second, round up some helpers. It is a little bit of a task to get the string dunked in the glue and then nicely on the balloon with out too much dripping on the table but it was fun. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-crsYaFxnq3E/T4dEI0Q77GI/AAAAAAAAB38/NPWC9dDQcd0/s1600/IMG_0329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-crsYaFxnq3E/T4dEI0Q77GI/AAAAAAAAB38/NPWC9dDQcd0/s200/IMG_0329.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Once you get the desired amount of string on the balloon, Or your kids start to lose interest, you let the glue dry. We let it dry a few hours before popping the balloon. Now I read somewhere that someone used large balloons and they made these amazing huge eggs. this did not turn out so well for us. The string was not strong enough to keep its shape once the balloon popped it pulled it all in with it. So the little water balloons are definitely what worked best for us. <br />
<br />
Here is our finished project.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xoOJOvtmUPo/T4dEOzbigNI/AAAAAAAAB4E/9MaYdDn2ZkU/s1600/IMG_0337.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xoOJOvtmUPo/T4dEOzbigNI/AAAAAAAAB4E/9MaYdDn2ZkU/s320/IMG_0337.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wIlVGrW8j7M/T4c-pma3HPI/AAAAAAAAB2U/Atf_ZJEHuQY/s1600/IMG_3944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wIlVGrW8j7M/T4c-pma3HPI/AAAAAAAAB2U/Atf_ZJEHuQY/s320/IMG_3944.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I have been wanting some new holiday decor and with St. Patricks day coming up soon I thought I would get in the green spirit. I found these fun Banner cut pieces of would at a local shop, Wood connection for just $1.50 each. I bought 7, because I wanted it to spell LUCKY with an extra on each side. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3YscoV_ZHE/T4c-v5YrHvI/AAAAAAAAB2c/xPcy3MADlMA/s1600/IMG_3945.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Z3YscoV_ZHE/T4c-v5YrHvI/AAAAAAAAB2c/xPcy3MADlMA/s200/IMG_3945.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6UnX_-28qDE/T4c-5yNsYCI/AAAAAAAAB2k/lVOwUNrwpfs/s1600/IMG_3947.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6UnX_-28qDE/T4c-5yNsYCI/AAAAAAAAB2k/lVOwUNrwpfs/s200/IMG_3947.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
First I painted the wood with some green paint I had on hand. Then I cut our a piece of scrapbook paper to match the triangle shape. I then Modge Podged it to the triangle. I used a different pieces of scrapbook paper for each piece of wood but you could easily get 2 shapes on one pieces. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eAWl52OY838/T4c_DFrw0YI/AAAAAAAAB2s/B6LyzgKHEsI/s1600/IMG_3950.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eAWl52OY838/T4c_DFrw0YI/AAAAAAAAB2s/B6LyzgKHEsI/s200/IMG_3950.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7d9IevOO1ag/T4c_KoPNFII/AAAAAAAAB20/jssLb3W-Rik/s1600/IMG_3953.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7d9IevOO1ag/T4c_KoPNFII/AAAAAAAAB20/jssLb3W-Rik/s200/IMG_3953.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
Then I tied them together with some Jute I had on hand. Finally, I cut out the vinyl lettering of the word LUCKY in white and put it on the banner. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-az96stdtPdA/T4c_R-6hWBI/AAAAAAAAB28/8v40InC6Gbs/s1600/IMG_3956.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-az96stdtPdA/T4c_R-6hWBI/AAAAAAAAB28/8v40InC6Gbs/s200/IMG_3956.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NIcN0mA7Qf8/T4dCj6q-KuI/AAAAAAAAB3U/T58giBnsCsI/s1600/IMG_0607.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NIcN0mA7Qf8/T4dCj6q-KuI/AAAAAAAAB3U/T58giBnsCsI/s200/IMG_0607.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
I think it turned out really cute and it is fun to have a little green around the house for St. Patty's day!<br />
<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqWja3S6JWc/T0nBb7SuelI/AAAAAAAAB0U/hrP_sXJM8O4/s1600/IMG_3882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqWja3S6JWc/T0nBb7SuelI/AAAAAAAAB0U/hrP_sXJM8O4/s320/IMG_3882.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Now that I have made all 4 of the canvas pictures, I need to hang them up. You can check out the previous post on how to make these <a href="http://lisawinnett.blogspot.com/2012/02/canvas-photos.html">[Canvas Photos]</a>. I am so excited with the way all 4 of them turned out.<br />
Since the canvas doesn't come with hooks on it to hang, I had to buy a picture hanging kit. This kit was great because it had everything. The eye screws, wire and the wall hooks. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QCJhRkVaO_I/T0nBgWtBLdI/AAAAAAAAB0c/zghoyZrXv0k/s1600/IMG_3883.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QCJhRkVaO_I/T0nBgWtBLdI/AAAAAAAAB0c/zghoyZrXv0k/s320/IMG_3883.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TcxnE9eQJKk/T0nBi_EU_tI/AAAAAAAAB0k/EthFP-Xrogw/s1600/IMG_3885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TcxnE9eQJKk/T0nBi_EU_tI/AAAAAAAAB0k/EthFP-Xrogw/s320/IMG_3885.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
First, I screwed the eye screws into the backs. Then I twisted the wire on from side to side. It was so easy to do. Just remember to make each one the exact same size, therefore allowing them to all hang at the same height. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ASI5HSmyB0Q/T0nBl-UDBBI/AAAAAAAAB0s/I5eD8z8B0X8/s1600/IMG_3887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ASI5HSmyB0Q/T0nBl-UDBBI/AAAAAAAAB0s/I5eD8z8B0X8/s200/IMG_3887.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_xH-mnNJ6NU/T0nFDGciy2I/AAAAAAAAB1E/fLdVSFeUatk/s1600/IMG_3933.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_xH-mnNJ6NU/T0nFDGciy2I/AAAAAAAAB1E/fLdVSFeUatk/s200/IMG_3933.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the finished product on the wall. I really love the way they turned out! Aren't they the cutest kids. There is still more to add to the wall so I will show you as it come along. <br />

Yeah, they are everywhere these days. But have you seen the prices? Outrageous - $100 and up. I've been drooling over the "Groupons" offering some good deals but even at half price they could be really pricey, especially when I want 4 of them. So I did the next best thing. I did it my self for a tenth of the price! And they look amazing! Here how we do it. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TBQ9ULxaYP8/T0MDiwGe6ZI/AAAAAAAABw0/VwLA94TSrIg/s1600/IMG_3848.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TBQ9ULxaYP8/T0MDiwGe6ZI/AAAAAAAABw0/VwLA94TSrIg/s320/IMG_3848.JPG" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>Here is what we need</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Photo </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Siccors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ruler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Pen</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Canvas </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Black paint</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mod Podge </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wax Paper </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sponge brush</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sponge</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Find a photo and have it enlarged - BIG! I took my photo's to Costco and
had them blown up to 16x20 - each photo was $5.75. Which is an amazing
deal for the high quality the pictures are. Cut it down to fit on your canvas, I cut mine just an 1/8" smaller so that it wasn't right to the edge. I knew I wanted the picture to be square and I originally wanted a canvas 14x14 but of course it was hard to find. So I got a canvas that was 16x16, I figured the bigger the better and luckily my picture was at already that size. The canvas was $9.99 (with 50% discount). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OOdca8Kuu9o/T0MDmVrEzFI/AAAAAAAABw8/wfWZyVWKyp8/s1600/IMG_3850.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OOdca8Kuu9o/T0MDmVrEzFI/AAAAAAAABw8/wfWZyVWKyp8/s320/IMG_3850.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Then, paint the edges of the canvas black, I also painted in a little bit on the front of the canvas just so there would not be any white showing at all. Paint (already had) = free<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Juwc3xIl3EM/T0MDqBGwxqI/AAAAAAAABxE/ai5aQzRNbws/s1600/IMG_3853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Juwc3xIl3EM/T0MDqBGwxqI/AAAAAAAABxE/ai5aQzRNbws/s320/IMG_3853.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qd_deDthuQI/T0MDte8-s2I/AAAAAAAABxM/i1UgTPCXWWg/s1600/IMG_3855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qd_deDthuQI/T0MDte8-s2I/AAAAAAAABxM/i1UgTPCXWWg/s320/IMG_3855.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Next I put a good layer of Mod Podge all over the front of the canvas. Also, already had this = Free. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDMX3JZ3-Ds/T0MD0LoumAI/AAAAAAAABxU/MtCfrz6WiY4/s1600/IMG_3856.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KDMX3JZ3-Ds/T0MD0LoumAI/AAAAAAAABxU/MtCfrz6WiY4/s320/IMG_3856.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I put the wax paper down so that when I set the photo face down it would not get any crap on it. Then I also, put a layer of the Mod Podge on the back of the photo and carefully matched it on top of the canvas. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-505Haf4QmMo/T0MD3CUjDaI/AAAAAAAABxc/7gquW9pHF7E/s1600/IMG_3857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-505Haf4QmMo/T0MD3CUjDaI/AAAAAAAABxc/7gquW9pHF7E/s320/IMG_3857.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Since my canvas is 2" thick it was a little hard to push it down, so I flipped it over so I could smooth it out and glue it down tight. Make sure to put a towel underneath. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ndGT8juOowA/T0MD6Gf_8yI/AAAAAAAABxk/99dxgxza0GQ/s1600/IMG_3858.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ndGT8juOowA/T0MD6Gf_8yI/AAAAAAAABxk/99dxgxza0GQ/s320/IMG_3858.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Next, I added a thin layer of Mod Podge on the front of the photo. It goes on creamy but it will dry clear so don't worry. I like how it adds a little layer of texture to the photo, more like real canvas. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rkwqex3IEEk/T0MD9PfjSsI/AAAAAAAABxs/X98DUYLwlQ0/s1600/IMG_3859.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rkwqex3IEEk/T0MD9PfjSsI/AAAAAAAABxs/X98DUYLwlQ0/s320/IMG_3859.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYezWtk-Uo0/T0MEBZvpxaI/AAAAAAAABx0/T3iSsak3kpk/s1600/IMG_3860.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYezWtk-Uo0/T0MEBZvpxaI/AAAAAAAABx0/T3iSsak3kpk/s320/IMG_3860.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last step, I took the dry sponge and put a little amount of paint around the edges just to blend in the picture. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yaMMMVKR3_U/T0MEDy455II/AAAAAAAABx8/2KOfimhSGLw/s1600/IMG_3863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yaMMMVKR3_U/T0MEDy455II/AAAAAAAABx8/2KOfimhSGLw/s320/IMG_3863.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I love, love, LOVE how it turned out. They look so amazing and drum roll
please.... total cost $15.74! That probably wouldn't even cover the
shipping from the online stores. What a truly amazing project! I have to
give a shout out to my friend <span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://britneybphotography.blogspot.com/">{britneyb}</a></span>
for taking these amazing pictures. I'm so glad that I finally am
getting around to displaying them in my home. Go and check her out! Want
to see them all finished and hanging on the wall?? I will post about
that soon. <br />

Part 1<div style="color: #674ea7;">
For Christmas my little girl had her heart set on a Princess Castle or Barbie dream house she saw in the Toy 'R' Us catalog. She talked about it for months. Then she stopped talking about it and wished about other things. Well just a few days before Christmas she brings it up again, asking if I
had her Castle hidden under by bed and stuff like that. Well this wasn't in our plans for Christmas, they can be so expensive in the stores and honestly sometimes just really cheap in quality. Oh boy I knew we were in for it come Christmas morning, and she did wonder where it was but quickly forgot and was happy with her other presents. Not so lucky for us her Birthday is just a week later and the Castle was questioned once again.<br />
<br />
Luckily, though back in the good year of 1985, my dad made me an amazing Barbie Doll House. We have moved this puppy around from house to house and it was currently sitting in our storage unit. Here it is in all it's glory in 1985, yes that is me as a super excited 6 year old on Christmas morning. (mann, picture have come a long way.) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7gTt1Q1nfb8/TxOqZucIX4I/AAAAAAAABs8/ob8bFvXZiuM/s1600/Scan.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7gTt1Q1nfb8/TxOqZucIX4I/AAAAAAAABs8/ob8bFvXZiuM/s320/Scan.jpeg" width="320" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZnyNozisa8E/TxOqYqr1b4I/AAAAAAAABs0/SPES3oCelgQ/s1600/Scan+1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZnyNozisa8E/TxOqYqr1b4I/AAAAAAAABs0/SPES3oCelgQ/s320/Scan+1.jpeg" width="310" /></a></div>
I wish I had more pictures of the inside and the different rooms. There was a kitchen with cabinets, stove and frig. Also a bathroom with tub and sink. It was awesome I loved it, I spent so many hours playing with this house.<br />
<br />
This house is really massive actually, and we really debated about
getting it out again for Bella, cause we don't have much space but we
know that she would love it. We decided to fix it up, but not as a
birthday present so that down the road both girls could play with it and
it's not just for her. So this is my current project I have embarked
on. Lets just say that the last 25+ years hasn't been too good to her. I remember putting stickers on the walls and roof, and just being stored for this long it got really beat up.
<br />
<br />
<br />
The minute we brought it home Logan wanted to start demolition, and he did. I had it in my mind that we were just going to fix a few things and get it ready for playing quickly. Pretty soon out is coming the carpet and all fixtures. I actually got emotional there for a second. But then once I really looked at the horrible state the house was in, I knew it had to be done.<br />

Since this is going to be a huge project, I will show you the progress we make along the way. So stay tuned for more results and the big revile. I have found some amazing Barbie House re-dues online that have inspired me like this one <a href="http://insidethebarbiecraftroom.blogspot.com/2010/10/if-you-recall-back-in-june-i-embarked.html">Inside the Barbie Craft Room</a><i>. </i>Yeah, I'm not going to that extreme but it does give me some fun ideas!<i> </i><br />

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Remember forever a go I said I redecorated the girls room. Yeah we did it back in the summer, but some how I am now finally getting around to posting about it. I actually love the room and I'm just a big slacker at showing it to all of you. So this room started out white, I mean White White! There is one wall that is covered with cubbies and so it make for great storage but other then that the walls were very boring white. My 4 year old daughter has had a really hard time changing from sleeping in her brothers room to sleeping in a room with her baby sister. (We were in hopes that it would help but she still insists on sleeping in brothers room.) </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We made it a beautiful butterfly room. These pictures are as we started painting the Lavander on the walls. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6j_L-Dg46gw/TwjWsUlRdRI/AAAAAAAABss/AeJ66FVVVh8/s1600/IMG_2605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6j_L-Dg46gw/TwjWsUlRdRI/AAAAAAAABss/AeJ66FVVVh8/s320/IMG_2605.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
I found a headboard and foot board for Bella's new twin bed at the DI for $8 Which was a sweet deal. I didn't get before pictures of it, darn it! I was a dark brown to start with. We primed it white and painted it an Almond color and then Glazed it. We also painted our old crib for Alivia the same Almond color. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a zig zag pink and purple quilt for Bella's bed. Which I really love how it turned out. It was a ton of work. Half way through making it my sewing machine died and I end up finishing it on a sewing machine I inherited from my grandma. This thing is a beauty, it was made in like the 40's. Then I got out my favorite thing, my Silhouette Machine to cut out tons of Butterflies. I put them mostly in the corner of her room by the window giving the illusion that they were just coming up from the bed. I also cut out both of the girls names and put them on the wall by their beds. <br />

<i><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: black;">We all make these great New Years Resolutions but most of the time we have a really hard time keeping it past a couple of weeks and in some causes days. Well One of my goals this year is to be more creative. When I find the time to let my creative side out, I find it brings me simple joy even if it is just in the moment. And these days I think we all could use a little time out and joy. So hopefully I will be posting a lot more over this next year I hope to post each week. I might not be perfect at it but I'm going to give it a good try. And lets see where I go from here.....</span> </span></i></div>

Every Halloween we have a family Halloween party and my favorite
part is
the food. It is so fun to make the spooky creepy menu. What a great
excuse to play with your food. This year we had
ordered pizza for the main dish (it easy) but the fun came in the side
dishes. The labels are a must - even if it is a everyday item that you
are serving it is fun to get creative and turn it Spooky! <br />

<i>Lisa</i></div>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-32567956319153454972011-10-09T11:38:00.000-06:002011-10-09T11:38:00.139-06:00Circles I have recently (a.k.a a few months ago) remodeled my Master Bedroom. Hopefully I will post the final room soon but until then I thought I would show you the art work I made to go above my bed. I was tired of the usual family pictures and really wanted something bold.<br />
<br />
So this is my CopyCAT Design. I found this picture online, I was originally looking at the chevron rug, but quickly fell in love with the Wall art. This room is so bold, but since yellow is not a color in my Master Bedroom I figured I would change it a bit and hoped to make it for way cheaper then this expensive look. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ygD_m1_U7zI/TovtI5RYcqI/AAAAAAAABc4/g3dTYEiiwOk/s1600/YELLOW-%2526-WHITE-INTERIOR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ygD_m1_U7zI/TovtI5RYcqI/AAAAAAAABc4/g3dTYEiiwOk/s320/YELLOW-%2526-WHITE-INTERIOR.jpg" width="240" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The delemia I had was that my space needed something horizontal and not as vertical as this one. After debating over this for a week or so I finally decided to go for it. I chose to actually use 12" squares but use 6 instead of 4. I bought a package of 3 canvases at JoANN's for $12 (after the 40% off coupon) for a total of $24! The package actually came with two 1" thick and one 2" thick canvases. At first, I thought I would only use four of them but I thought that adding the other 2 would give it the horizontal look that I was really wanting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T0V30CQhvwk/TovtMYZWCRI/AAAAAAAABc8/JzScV0y96r8/s1600/IMG_3089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T0V30CQhvwk/TovtMYZWCRI/AAAAAAAABc8/JzScV0y96r8/s320/IMG_3089.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Drawing the Circles was actually pretty easy I just marked the center on each side. Then using a string tied to my pencil drew a curve from one side to the next and repeated on all corners. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OFPuab5DFhc/TovtQBMr8VI/AAAAAAAABdE/7c4PBIq5OZk/s1600/IMG_3094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OFPuab5DFhc/TovtQBMr8VI/AAAAAAAABdE/7c4PBIq5OZk/s320/IMG_3094.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n3Mf7mBR268/TovtPJTj9BI/AAAAAAAABdA/3_9AFWdSreo/s1600/IMG_3093.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-n3Mf7mBR268/TovtPJTj9BI/AAAAAAAABdA/3_9AFWdSreo/s320/IMG_3093.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
My master bedroom has a color scheme of gray and Turquoise. Since my bed is up against the one turquoise wall I wanted to bring the gray to that side of the room. I had some metallic silver craft paint that I used to paint the curves.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X-wa10hRHC8/TovtSEnLX0I/AAAAAAAABdI/Kcx-mlbcv6I/s1600/IMG_3095.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X-wa10hRHC8/TovtSEnLX0I/AAAAAAAABdI/Kcx-mlbcv6I/s320/IMG_3095.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is the finished piece on the wall. I love it! I do have to admit I was a bit worried as I was hanging it but you can't judge it until you hang it all. Now I love it. It actually made the room seem taller. The bed has always been the focal point of the room but now it really completes the look and brings it all together. I hung the two thicker canvases in the middle and the other 4 around. I think it came together perfectly. <br />

This is my very favorite time of year I love Halloween. I haven't been able to jump in to the Halloween Ghoulish Spirit as much as I want to yet but I will.<br />
So to kick off the holiday, I spent this last weekend with my friend Brie getting all creative. She found these very cute block signs at The Wood Connection. First, we painted the SPOOKY sign, and had so much fun that we got together again that evening to do the BOO sign. This was something I really needed. It felt like it had been FOREVER since I did a craft. Thanks Brie for sharing with me. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ueS8-qEkevs/TovjhQ6RlVI/AAAAAAAABc0/Ug5oA9s6FkY/s1600/IMG_3084.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659867517335737682" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ueS8-qEkevs/TovjhQ6RlVI/AAAAAAAABc0/Ug5oA9s6FkY/s400/IMG_3084.JPG" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a>On the SPOOKY sign we painted the letters, then mod podged paper on top. Finally, we added Sparkle on the Bats and Eyes to give it a little bling.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lxFGGcp_obg/TovjhCs7FnI/AAAAAAAABcs/sFg1zvVlf1Q/s1600/IMG_3080.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5659867513521641074" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lxFGGcp_obg/TovjhCs7FnI/AAAAAAAABcs/sFg1zvVlf1Q/s400/IMG_3080.JPG" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><br />
On the BOO sign, I wanted it to be a darker look to it (not so bright and fun). We did the same by painting the letters and then mod podgeing (is that a word - well it is now!) paper on top. After I added a black glaze on each letter to darken it up and to make the wainscoting on the second "O" to stand out more.<br />

The baby has come and has kept me really busy so It has taken time to get these posts online.<br />
<br />
This is the new room for my 2 boys ages 9 and 7. Up until this point we had 2 bedrooms, the Master and then we had our 3 kids in one room. It was pretty tight in there but we made it work, but it wouldn't work for 4 kids. So we built a new room which now became the master (a post on that soon). Then we told the boys they will get our old room and be able to decorate it and make it all cool. Of course I had big plans for their room and my son "L" was very excited to get it started.<br />
<br />
The before - very boring White walls. <a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2UEn6QxZQs0/TmWVk7iF8XI/AAAAAAAABbE/tYBKV-pTIUo/s1600/IMG_2594.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649085769294672242" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2UEn6QxZQs0/TmWVk7iF8XI/AAAAAAAABbE/tYBKV-pTIUo/s400/IMG_2594.JPG" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rW2RCnq1ZKE/TmWVlClp0KI/AAAAAAAABbM/aZP2TVwJaMo/s1600/IMG_2592.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649085771188654242" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rW2RCnq1ZKE/TmWVlClp0KI/AAAAAAAABbM/aZP2TVwJaMo/s400/IMG_2592.JPG" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 300px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a>We wanted color in the room and I wanted to do a green and blue. "L" came with me to pick out the colors and they were all so excited to start painting.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NE84CqP5gYY/TmWVk6dxKKI/AAAAAAAABa8/Ydd1y4-Zedg/s1600/IMG_2595.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649085769008097442" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NE84CqP5gYY/TmWVk6dxKKI/AAAAAAAABa8/Ydd1y4-Zedg/s400/IMG_2595.jpg" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 300px;" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_4Z-l5M882g/TmWVkkN5ndI/AAAAAAAABa0/fxJW8zBrDYs/s1600/IMG_2596.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649085763035962834" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_4Z-l5M882g/TmWVkkN5ndI/AAAAAAAABa0/fxJW8zBrDYs/s400/IMG_2596.jpg" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 300px;" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Wp4YPhI64nQ/TmWVkhRU7vI/AAAAAAAABas/Ji815lXfiX8/s1600/IMG_2598.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5649085762245029618" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Wp4YPhI64nQ/TmWVkhRU7vI/AAAAAAAABas/Ji815lXfiX8/s400/IMG_2598.jpg" style="cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 300px;" /></a>These were my 3 little helpers. They did awesome no spilled paint and we got it done really fast.<br />
<br />

The boys have always had bunk beds so I really wanted to give them the chance to have their own separate areas and to really decorate it the way they want. And boy did they ever! It is really cool to see their individual personalities really come out.<br />

We moved their desks into there room (you can check out that projects here <a href="http://lisawinnett.blogspot.com/2010/10/boys-desks.html">Boys Desks</a>). I also purchased the large paper mache letters and spray painted them in Nickel. They love their room, they love that they created it and that is their own space. We had a great time decorating and organizing it all together. It is so cool that their little sister really wants to sleep in there too.<br />

It was really busy around here, but we had a new baby coming and so we had a short time. I will post about those rooms soon.<br />

I was really excited when I found this beauty in its rough form. I picked this desk up at the thrift store for $30, it looks like someone else wanted to refinish it but then gave up on it and I snatched it up. So I didn't need to do any sanding since some one already did that. I just had to put primer on it.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h65qNpDT0qQ/Thy9jd7t5EI/AAAAAAAABP0/fxO8WqMGqgQ/s1600/IMG_2407.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-h65qNpDT0qQ/Thy9jd7t5EI/AAAAAAAABP0/fxO8WqMGqgQ/s400/IMG_2407.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628582051334448194" border="0" /></a>I don't know what what I did with more of the during pictures they just disappeared I guess. So I painted it is Aqua Blue and glazed it. Then I added silver pull handles.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIVco76Xn60/Thy9je3_flI/AAAAAAAABPs/4XApXxQU7nk/s1600/IMG_2494.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fIVco76Xn60/Thy9je3_flI/AAAAAAAABPs/4XApXxQU7nk/s400/IMG_2494.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628582051587259986" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tMSUfs0SmQg/Thy9kOGOySI/AAAAAAAABP8/rXDgKSkXnls/s1600/IMG_2493.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tMSUfs0SmQg/Thy9kOGOySI/AAAAAAAABP8/rXDgKSkXnls/s400/IMG_2493.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628582064263448866" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZWcPIDqOMro/Thy9i7mK8KI/AAAAAAAABPk/cWtvNmyrUnQ/s1600/IMG_2495.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZWcPIDqOMro/Thy9i7mK8KI/AAAAAAAABPk/cWtvNmyrUnQ/s400/IMG_2495.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5628582042117271714" border="0" /></a><br />I love how it turned out. My friend Brieanna found a wreath she loved online. It was just a plain white but looked really elegant (sorry I don't have the link). But we wanted to try and use the same idea but make it festive for the summer holidays.<br />This is what you need. A total of 2 to 2 1/2 yards of felt. (depending on how tight you put your circles.) a floral wreath, and a lot of push pins. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kuE0z8nMipg/ThIw1r8VQJI/AAAAAAAABOM/37gNGqk2Jyc/s1600/IMG_2176.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kuE0z8nMipg/ThIw1r8VQJI/AAAAAAAABOM/37gNGqk2Jyc/s400/IMG_2176.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625612583426146450" border="0" /></a><br /><br />We cut tons 3" circles from each color, about 55 per color so a total of 150 circles!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VQ7phf8xaLM/ThIw1GxbHuI/AAAAAAAABOE/MUB7WTaf7_U/s1600/IMG_2177.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VQ7phf8xaLM/ThIw1GxbHuI/AAAAAAAABOE/MUB7WTaf7_U/s400/IMG_2177.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625612573448281826" border="0" /></a><br />To fold them it is really simple. First fold the circle in half, then in half again so you have a quarter circle. You'll put the pin in the bottom corner, and then pin it in the wreath.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mApHMr41Ygo/ThIw0rvnDqI/AAAAAAAABN8/jvedAZrFkkI/s1600/IMG_2200.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mApHMr41Ygo/ThIw0rvnDqI/AAAAAAAABN8/jvedAZrFkkI/s400/IMG_2200.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625612566192918178" border="0" /></a><br />Just keep adding and building them as you go around. I redid this part about 20 time I swear. I didn't like it in rows. It is best to try to be random in placing them around. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zXQOM_0GDZc/ThIw0apG6SI/AAAAAAAABN0/x2VMMkDCQiI/s1600/IMG_2181.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zXQOM_0GDZc/ThIw0apG6SI/AAAAAAAABN0/x2VMMkDCQiI/s400/IMG_2181.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625612561602242850" border="0" /></a><br />This is the finished product!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Px3_-VBNHmk/ThIw0M3wueI/AAAAAAAABNs/6Ri6WdwpxtM/s1600/IMG_2202.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Px3_-VBNHmk/ThIw0M3wueI/AAAAAAAABNs/6Ri6WdwpxtM/s400/IMG_2202.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625612557905607138" border="0" /></a>I think it turned out awesome. So fun and just perfect for the summer months. I really have no idea how she handles them both, I helped babysit with my mom and Husband there and it was still a handful. For a while now, we have been planning how to decorate the Nursery. Since she has a boy and a girl we decided that a Dr. Seuss Nursery would be perfect. Don't you just love Dr. Seuss? The magical words to his books, the fun colors and characters, it makes for a very inspiring baby nursery.<br /><br />It took us a while to get it all started, she changed rooms around and finally got them moved downstairs next to her room. This is the room before... Very plain white walls. We did put a fresh coat of white paint on the walls and ceiling since it had been years since it had been done. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xInn85jEu2Q/Tf7ImzynJPI/AAAAAAAABK8/Ja38wfvjCBg/s1600/IMG_1655.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xInn85jEu2Q/Tf7ImzynJPI/AAAAAAAABK8/Ja38wfvjCBg/s320/IMG_1655.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149954068030706" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gxNGdGnHbJ0/Tf7Im_9QOcI/AAAAAAAABLE/YAfy8dfLbzA/s1600/IMG_1654.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gxNGdGnHbJ0/Tf7Im_9QOcI/AAAAAAAABLE/YAfy8dfLbzA/s320/IMG_1654.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149957333891522" border="0" /></a><br />If your going to do Dr. Seuss you have to go big. So we decided to do big stripes on the walls. I really think this idea freaked her husband out but luckily he let us see our vision and go with it. Nothing in Seussland is ever perfect or exact. So we made the stripes different sizes and planned for 3 colors. Luckily, we used a laser level so our lines were straight. This part can be very tricky and drive you crazy if you don't plan it out a head of time. After I struggled on paper for a good 2 hours, in a matter of minutes my sweet hubby, just took the perimeter of the room and divided it by how big we wanted the grouping of stripes. Then we knew how many sets of stripes will equally fit in the room. (sounds complicated huh!)<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CNxqEf9cCIc/Tf7IlOsGQyI/AAAAAAAABK0/Ki0s3EkS22s/s1600/IMG_1658.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CNxqEf9cCIc/Tf7IlOsGQyI/AAAAAAAABK0/Ki0s3EkS22s/s320/IMG_1658.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149926928728866" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V9tQWUS07bs/Tf7IZkfSdYI/AAAAAAAABKs/D2H5udnPBEk/s1600/IMG_1662.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-V9tQWUS07bs/Tf7IZkfSdYI/AAAAAAAABKs/D2H5udnPBEk/s320/IMG_1662.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149726622152066" border="0" /></a>It took a few hours to get it all taped out and set just right. Now on to painting the stripes. She had the paint colors matched from the Cat in the Hat book at the hardware store. We used Red and Blue. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xKicz-NPc1g/Tf7IYypAfbI/AAAAAAAABKk/qLsrrqhXRAU/s1600/IMG_1664.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xKicz-NPc1g/Tf7IYypAfbI/AAAAAAAABKk/qLsrrqhXRAU/s320/IMG_1664.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149713241144754" border="0" /></a><br />Then it was time to start decorating and placing everything in the room. She bought some Fabric for the draperies and some poster cut outs of the characters from all the different Dr. Seuss books. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UG_f8iCpWC4/Tf7IYDXhc7I/AAAAAAAABKc/oVf4o1dvgOs/s1600/IMG_1996.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 355px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UG_f8iCpWC4/Tf7IYDXhc7I/AAAAAAAABKc/oVf4o1dvgOs/s320/IMG_1996.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149700551340978" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EIc4rKqinjI/Tf7IXUt1CZI/AAAAAAAABKU/vevvhieth0k/s1600/IMG_1997.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EIc4rKqinjI/Tf7IXUt1CZI/AAAAAAAABKU/vevvhieth0k/s320/IMG_1997.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149688028432786" border="0" /></a>The dresser was previously painted a dark green, she repainted it the same blue as the walls and glazed over it with a little darker blue. This is a small reading nook on one side of the room. She has a toy box/bench that will go in this corner but we are still working on getting it painted.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wahORdOFEyE/Tf7IACzqM4I/AAAAAAAABKE/FsgNeb0Ho40/s1600/IMG_1998.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wahORdOFEyE/Tf7IACzqM4I/AAAAAAAABKE/FsgNeb0Ho40/s320/IMG_1998.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149288084059010" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cx8JQ1-JK3A/Tf7H_Cpj7_I/AAAAAAAABJs/ZozkYTEBvFs/s1600/IMG_2009.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cx8JQ1-JK3A/Tf7H_Cpj7_I/AAAAAAAABJs/ZozkYTEBvFs/s320/IMG_2009.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149270861836274" border="0" /></a>She is also making these cute blankets for each of them. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b2jF9wTRyDU/Tf7H-o6vF9I/AAAAAAAABJk/T-Ab7R3-AjI/s1600/IMG_2012.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b2jF9wTRyDU/Tf7H-o6vF9I/AAAAAAAABJk/T-Ab7R3-AjI/s320/IMG_2012.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620149263954548690" border="0" /></a><br />Being inspired by the trees in the Lorax. It is awesome. I use it all the time these days, mostly to cut vinyl lettering. Here are a few of my most recent projects that I have been cutting out.<br /><br />America Sign<br />I am signed up for all those Group deal emails these days, because I love a deal. Recently, this was being offered as a deal to buy just the lettering for $6. I thought, I can totally make that. The deal actually appeared on my mother's birthday and she is a big- all things America kind of gal, so I thought it would make a perfect gift. I liked it so much, I just had to make one for me also.<br />I found 2 scrap pieces of wood out in the garage one was 7"x 13" and the other slightly larger 8" x 20". I liked that they weren't perfect and had a knot or two in them. <span>I didn't even bother cutting them down I thought that it might be fun to have it big.</span><span style="font-weight: bold;"> Wood = Free</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-psT1CirdqWM/TfaW5moOJSI/AAAAAAAABHs/nACQBtkQV5g/s1600/IMG_1780.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-psT1CirdqWM/TfaW5moOJSI/AAAAAAAABHs/nACQBtkQV5g/s320/IMG_1780.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617843501557228834" border="0" /></a><br />Then I just used a little white spray paint I had on hand. Since I was planning on sanding it down after I just did a light coat of the paint. Then sanded it down to make it look old and worn.<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Paint = Free.</span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-boMT1RTv4yc/TfaW5P9n6oI/AAAAAAAABHk/ZH4hhZ2emok/s1600/IMG_1781.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-boMT1RTv4yc/TfaW5P9n6oI/AAAAAAAABHk/ZH4hhZ2emok/s320/IMG_1781.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617843495472982658" border="0" /></a><br />Last I cut out my saying and attached it. It says "America land of the free because of the brave" <span style="font-weight: bold;">Vinyl = Free! </span>A totally free and easy to make project.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mp6J_Y1oOxM/TfaW46GuDxI/AAAAAAAABHc/MzVMS3o3U9U/s1600/IMG_1796.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mp6J_Y1oOxM/TfaW46GuDxI/AAAAAAAABHc/MzVMS3o3U9U/s320/IMG_1796.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617843489605553938" border="0" /></a>I think that they turned out really cute. I gave my mom the bigger of the two and she loved it. It was so easy to make.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">----------------------------------------<br /><br /></div>Another project I recently made was for the end of the school year teacher gifts. I got this idea in a magazine but changed it up a little. I bought some hand soap from the store for a couple of dollars. Then my husband burned the front sticker off for me. I guess he just heated up the sticker and then it was able to be pulled off easily. I use Goof-off to get off any remaining residue. Then I just selected an apple and wrote A+ Teacher, and had my Silhouette cut it out. it was that simple. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PA7q9C81rS0/TfaW4RFX4zI/AAAAAAAABHM/G4QcxL_wr3s/s1600/IMG_1793.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PA7q9C81rS0/TfaW4RFX4zI/AAAAAAAABHM/G4QcxL_wr3s/s320/IMG_1793.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617843478594052914" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OSL0iVKJI4w/TfaW4sihxbI/AAAAAAAABHU/G9BRtk4phbk/s1600/IMG_1795.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OSL0iVKJI4w/TfaW4sihxbI/AAAAAAAABHU/G9BRtk4phbk/s320/IMG_1795.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617843485964092850" border="0" /></a>I thought it was s cute and fun gift for the teacher. Something they can definitely use but it is was still inexpensive and personal.<br /><span style="color: rgb(153, 153, 255); font-style: italic;"><br />Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-87929517802952013122011-04-30T22:27:00.009-06:002011-04-30T22:56:17.443-06:00Nightstand for .W.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4UM9cFSTKV0/TbzhrFFZ5PI/AAAAAAAAA-A/5mzMoFHbU9M/s1600/IMG_1195.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4UM9cFSTKV0/TbzhrFFZ5PI/AAAAAAAAA-A/5mzMoFHbU9M/s400/IMG_1195.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600166757524722" border="0" /></a>My friend Becca asked me to help her with some of her furniture that she just wanted to change up. After, talking back and forth for a while we finally got it started. She has some really great wood furniture that just needs some little TLC. The first thing she wanted to change was this cute little nightstand. She hated the red color, it just didn't go with anything in her bedroom.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lXMx4riF7c0/Tbzhrb3LMuI/AAAAAAAAA-I/lViU_n4REvw/s1600/IMG_1193.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lXMx4riF7c0/Tbzhrb3LMuI/AAAAAAAAA-I/lViU_n4REvw/s400/IMG_1193.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600172871856866" border="0" /></a><br />I like how this night stand is just little but has some good detail to it. It is also a very sturdy piece. First, I used Rust-Oleum Primer and coated it really good.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yeEzqvZvG74/Tbzhi2UTH0I/AAAAAAAAA94/CLPxisr2maw/s1600/IMG_1200.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yeEzqvZvG74/Tbzhi2UTH0I/AAAAAAAAA94/CLPxisr2maw/s400/IMG_1200.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600025354510146" border="0" /></a><br />I was so ecstatic when she said that she wanted to paint it in a light blue color. I have been <span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;">dying</span> to paint some thing in a Turquoise color. Turquoise is everywhere right now, it was the color of the year last year but it is still going strong! We picked the Rust-Oleum spray paint in <span style="color: rgb(102, 255, 255);">Aqua</span>. I was so happy with how it looked.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MtZhMKPKqfo/Tbzhijnt-UI/AAAAAAAAA9w/sP_yBlvf_sE/s1600/IMG_1249.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MtZhMKPKqfo/Tbzhijnt-UI/AAAAAAAAA9w/sP_yBlvf_sE/s400/IMG_1249.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600020335688002" border="0" /></a><br />Of course I couldn't resist glazing it. <span style="font-style: italic;">Have I mentioned it is my favorite thing ever! </span>I used Ralph Lauren Faux Glaze. Just painted it on very generously and then wiped off with a damp rag. I just wiped off until I got the look I wanted, or added more as needed. I love how it just give the details a little definition.<br /><br />I also replaced the drawer pull, I found this great round pull at home Depot for about $3. It just updates the whole thing.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4DLFOUdUEAI/TbzhiRWD3zI/AAAAAAAAA9o/8LgS-ZYXjUY/s1600/IMG_1316.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 352px; height: 469px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4DLFOUdUEAI/TbzhiRWD3zI/AAAAAAAAA9o/8LgS-ZYXjUY/s400/IMG_1316.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600015429787442" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OW_rCGGVeHU/TbzhiJv1N6I/AAAAAAAAA9g/YT0tllZRW50/s1600/IMG_1320.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OW_rCGGVeHU/TbzhiJv1N6I/AAAAAAAAA9g/YT0tllZRW50/s400/IMG_1320.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600013390395298" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nQXhVbtelNU/Tbzhh8l6MjI/AAAAAAAAA9Y/7QDKP5kfxmk/s1600/IMG_1322.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nQXhVbtelNU/Tbzhh8l6MjI/AAAAAAAAA9Y/7QDKP5kfxmk/s400/IMG_1322.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601600009859117618" border="0" /></a>I totally love it and Becca did too. But we only get a small glimpse of it every few days. So I wanted to make something that would really bring some fun bright colors in to my home. I found a zillion ideas for ribbon wreaths back in December when I was looking for my Christmas wreath. So I filed this idea away for the future. I thought this would be a prefect ways to bring all things Spring inside and just in time for Easter.<br /><br />My friend Brie loved the idea too and wanted to make one also. We started with a 12 inch floral hoop from JoAnn's $4.99 (used a 40% off coupon) = $3! And then I bought tons of ribbon. You honestly need about 24 to 25 YARDS of ribbon to to make sure you cover it well. I also used up any old ribbon I had around the house, So I spent about $15 in ribbon. Buy it in bulk if possible. I bought most of it at Walmart and searched for the rolls with the most yardage for the same price. My friend also got about the same amount of ribbon and we mixed the colors for more variety.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l97MTu-aj3Y/TaSvZZtNAiI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/5IT4WWKO5bk/s1600/IMG_1161.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l97MTu-aj3Y/TaSvZZtNAiI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/5IT4WWKO5bk/s400/IMG_1161.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594789488033071650" border="0" /></a><br />We cut the ribbon into about 18" strips, nothing scientific just depending on the thickness of the ribbon as to how it would tie around . Then we started to tie the ribbon on the hoop. Starting with the thicker pieces to cover the whole loop, then moving on to thinner ribbon to go on top. It took a couple of hours all together but it was sure fun to do with a friend. Doesn't it look so festive and fun.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YawqlKLANvY/TaSvY3w445I/AAAAAAAAA8I/cYQkOMsireU/s1600/IMG_1187.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YawqlKLANvY/TaSvY3w445I/AAAAAAAAA8I/cYQkOMsireU/s400/IMG_1187.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594789478921724818" border="0" /></a><br />It really did take a lot of ribbon but if you are like me and hang on to a zillion of little scraps, this is a fun way to use them up. I think the Ric Rac and the cute flower ribbon really add a fun punch.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BPnzH_8C0Ps/TaSvYshk6RI/AAAAAAAAA8A/OjGSQbp23dc/s1600/IMG_1189.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BPnzH_8C0Ps/TaSvYshk6RI/AAAAAAAAA8A/OjGSQbp23dc/s400/IMG_1189.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5594789475904710930" border="0" /></a>How are you welcoming in Spring?<br /><span style="font-size:130%;"><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(153, 153, 255);"><br />Lisa</span></span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-61044619045432182252011-04-03T14:29:00.007-06:002011-04-03T15:08:47.113-06:00Bathroom SignLast summer, I painted and redecorated my bathroom. For a really long time I have been looking for some wall art for it to finish the look. I just hadn't found the right thing. So my sister was telling me about this metal sign she found at Hobby Lobby. She wanted me to make her some vinyl lettering to go on hers. And I thought that it would work perfect in my bathroom too. I have a saying that I have wanted to make for some time and this was perfect.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ayeY3kI2h_I/TZjZduACU4I/AAAAAAAAA74/l62BaxG8l7Q/s1600/IMG_1109.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ayeY3kI2h_I/TZjZduACU4I/AAAAAAAAA74/l62BaxG8l7Q/s400/IMG_1109.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591458041968087938" border="0" /></a>This is the original sign bought for $15 (after 50% off) at Hobby Lobby. I loved the details along the edges. After I got it home, I realized it is the exact same color as the walls. Since that wouldn't work I decided to paint it green, since I have other elements of green in the room.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-516c5toURVc/TZjZdNERsCI/AAAAAAAAA7w/AOlcdIdfkDU/s1600/IMG_1117.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-516c5toURVc/TZjZdNERsCI/AAAAAAAAA7w/AOlcdIdfkDU/s400/IMG_1117.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591458033127501858" border="0" /></a>After I primed it with Krylon Primer, I used Ivy Leaf Kylon spray paint that I already had on hand.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b9NL0X9kKZA/TZjZb2_M0RI/AAAAAAAAA7g/3wEJw_o4tRA/s1600/IMG_1126.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b9NL0X9kKZA/TZjZb2_M0RI/AAAAAAAAA7g/3wEJw_o4tRA/s400/IMG_1126.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591458010020761874" border="0" /></a>I like the green but thought it was too bright for the room, and I love the detail, yet it seemed to disappear along the edges. So I had to glaze it - which honestly is my favorite thing.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wdO7dBfhJ_0/TZjZcRZUmSI/AAAAAAAAA7o/cvPBAbHLvns/s1600/IMG_1127.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wdO7dBfhJ_0/TZjZcRZUmSI/AAAAAAAAA7o/cvPBAbHLvns/s400/IMG_1127.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591458017109645602" border="0" /></a><br />I covered it very heavily using a brush to make sure I got it in all the little nooks and crannies.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iGBFvFQIm88/TZjZNeR1cRI/AAAAAAAAA7Q/2TWsGmUotsY/s1600/IMG_1128.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iGBFvFQIm88/TZjZNeR1cRI/AAAAAAAAA7Q/2TWsGmUotsY/s400/IMG_1128.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591457762869866770" border="0" /></a>Then using a damp cloth, I wiped off all the Glaze. Being careful not to wipe too much back off. I was very pleased with how it really made it stand out.<br /><br />I love the saying "In a world where you can be anything... BE YOURSELF!" I don't know who said it but I really love it and have wanted to make a sign for a while. I cut my vinyl letters out with my new Silhouette SD machine. I love this machine! Unlike it's competitors, you use your computer to design what ever you want and are not limited to buying the cartridges. It is awesome. And my Hubby has actually used it even more then me!<br /><br />Here is the finished project<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wXaUsCBK6CU/TZjZMzd18pI/AAAAAAAAA7I/awzjaY0Sgzo/s1600/IMG_1129.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 379px; height: 504px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wXaUsCBK6CU/TZjZMzd18pI/AAAAAAAAA7I/awzjaY0Sgzo/s400/IMG_1129.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591457751377506962" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hdgeqbp-fHA/TZjZMWgAAhI/AAAAAAAAA7A/YHRuB3-sbLQ/s1600/IMG_1133.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 262px; height: 196px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hdgeqbp-fHA/TZjZMWgAAhI/AAAAAAAAA7A/YHRuB3-sbLQ/s400/IMG_1133.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5591457743601926674" border="0" /></a>Awesome, Huh! I am so excited to have it done, it turned out just how I wanted. Total cost was just $15 for the sign, everything else I had here on hand. I love quick and thrifty projects like this. Remember, if you find something you like at the store but it's not the right color you can change it up for pretty inexpensive and make it a custom item for your home.<br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(153, 153, 255); font-style: italic;">Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-11221192245013077022011-03-30T13:32:00.003-06:002011-03-30T13:46:34.696-06:00SlackerMy last post was 3 months ago, hello did I die or something!!! Yeah it is a bit ridiculous I might have to admit but it can easily be explained all at the same time with a couple of words PREGNANCY and WINTER. So now that is it warming up and I'm not wanting to sleep all day I want to get back to being creative. I need it. It makes me feel alive to be able to create something beautiful or fun. So I'm admitting this to get my self on the ball again and start creating. I have many projects in my head or already half way in the works, so here is a sneak peak at a few that I hope to finish and post about soon.<br /><br />A picture for my bathroom<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S5OXnCJe4DI/TZOGDj2aKYI/AAAAAAAAA6o/UZReSEuRZZA/s1600/IMG_1109.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-S5OXnCJe4DI/TZOGDj2aKYI/AAAAAAAAA6o/UZReSEuRZZA/s400/IMG_1109.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5589958958218094978" border="0" /></a><br />A daddy of all projects the console T.V. - their making a come back.... well in a new way.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bd_QlKDGzOA/TZOGDHiBrLI/AAAAAAAAA6g/br8ZAU3cb04/s1600/IMG_0657.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bd_QlKDGzOA/TZOGDHiBrLI/AAAAAAAAA6g/br8ZAU3cb04/s400/IMG_0657.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5589958950616411314" border="0" /></a>So keep posted and thanks for sticking with me on this.<br /><span style="color: rgb(153, 153, 255); font-style: italic;"><br />Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-4929589619392680112010-12-13T16:35:00.007-07:002010-12-13T17:57:26.720-07:00WreathsI have been working on many holiday crafts lately. I just had to make these amazing wreaths. I have made two different ones so far, in my searches I have found many more I just will have to make through out the year.<br /><br />The first one I made I got the idea from <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQaurmMiE8I/AAAAAAAAAxY/y6GjLpB4mfI/s1600/IMG_0524.JPG">All Things Thrifty </a>Lima Bean Wreath. I fell in love with it and wanted to make me one. Once I decided I wanted to hang it on my french doors I decided I needed two. While shopping at JoAnn's, I was inspired to try and make a square wreath instead. Who ever said they had to all be round??? I purchased 2- 12x12 pieces of Styrofoam, about an inch thick, for $5 each and used a 40% off coupon.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQaurmMiE8I/AAAAAAAAAxY/y6GjLpB4mfI/s1600/IMG_0524.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQaurmMiE8I/AAAAAAAAAxY/y6GjLpB4mfI/s400/IMG_0524.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315654791435202" border="0" /></a>I cut out the center of each square to make a 6inch square in the middle. Then I also trimmed a little of the corners so it was rounded and not so square. (just a side note... I hate the sound of Styrofoam, so this was difficult for me to get through.) But I'm sure glad I did.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQaurEQVY0I/AAAAAAAAAxQ/whh2uyS5QBk/s1600/IMG_0527.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQaurEQVY0I/AAAAAAAAAxQ/whh2uyS5QBk/s400/IMG_0527.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315645680575298" border="0" /></a><br />The example used Lima beans, but I have a million Pinto beans lying around (honestly I wont be cooking them anytime soon). Since I plan on painting the wreaths anyway, it will be no big deal. Pinto beans - FREE! I hot glued them on at a 45 degree angle.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauqSHGEDI/AAAAAAAAAxI/8HdifIyTQVM/s1600/IMG_0529.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauqSHGEDI/AAAAAAAAAxI/8HdifIyTQVM/s400/IMG_0529.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315632220049458" border="0" /></a>It took just a little less then a 1 lb. bag of Pinto beans to do each wreath. (I will have to think of another project for the other 20 bags I have been storing.) It was pretty tedious work and took about 4 hours for the first one and about half the time on the second. Minus the 15 minute break when I burned my finger so bad that I sat there wanting to cry. But I did make it through.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauae2bccI/AAAAAAAAAxA/q-fIhlPevmY/s1600/IMG_0531.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauae2bccI/AAAAAAAAAxA/q-fIhlPevmY/s400/IMG_0531.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315360761901506" border="0" /></a>I wanted to paint my wreaths Red. It has to be one of my favorite colors. So first I sprayed it with white Primer which really made all the dumb glue strings stand out. Then I sprayed it with the Red. Which helped re-hide some of the glue and the white cracks between the beans. Tied it up with some ribbon that I also purchased at JoAnn's for a few dollars.<br />And here is the finished project.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauZokJHdI/AAAAAAAAAw4/dQez8SbZkqM/s1600/IMG_0571.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauZokJHdI/AAAAAAAAAw4/dQez8SbZkqM/s400/IMG_0571.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315346189688274" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauZBRckBI/AAAAAAAAAww/sBRrEdRXoBs/s1600/IMG_0573.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauZBRckBI/AAAAAAAAAww/sBRrEdRXoBs/s400/IMG_0573.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315335642288146" border="0" /></a>I really think it turned out awesome. They fit in the space perfectly and just add a fun look to the glass doors. Both wreaths were about $10 together!!!<br /><div style="text-align: center;">---------------------------------------------<br /></div>Another wreath I made was based on function more then just aesthetics. I have really wanted a fun way to display all of those Christmas cards from family and friends. In years past I would just tape them on the door but It looked pretty bad. So I searched and searched for inspiration on an idea. I knew I still wanted it on the door because of lack of space to put another object and I wanted it where we will all see them. After, a couple different trips to different craft stores I found the wire wreath frame for about $4 and this block "W" for $5. I painted the "W" green with paint I had on hand. Then, I bought a package of clips for $3 and the ribbon was some I already had. I Think it turned out great for about $12!!! It makes all the cards look amazing and it is fun to have a place for them all to go.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauYXDrIRI/AAAAAAAAAwo/ZQnDhCf7T2Y/s1600/IMG_0589.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauYXDrIRI/AAAAAAAAAwo/ZQnDhCf7T2Y/s400/IMG_0589.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315324310233362" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauX3mkE1I/AAAAAAAAAwg/AlH66vUMTiY/s1600/IMG_0588.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQauX3mkE1I/AAAAAAAAAwg/AlH66vUMTiY/s400/IMG_0588.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550315315866637138" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 102, 204);"><br />Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-9961365761453853822010-12-10T16:55:00.005-07:002010-12-10T17:32:19.177-07:00Entertainment simplified<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA671IR6I/AAAAAAAAAtY/m6In_ObfHOE/s1600/IMG_0580.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA671IR6I/AAAAAAAAAtY/m6In_ObfHOE/s400/IMG_0580.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549209809599350690" border="0" /></a><br />Do you have one of those entertainment areas that need help. Need organization, and simplification. We sure did. A few months ago my hubby got a new fancy flat screen TV. So in the process we rearranged the family room. We put the new flat screen above the mantel which is nice that it keeps it away from little fingers but all the other components were stacked up there along side it. We love the new TV but hated the mess that it brought just having everything right there. We had plans to build a simple shelf to hold it all and be able to still look nice.<br /><br />Erek took this project on and together we brainstormed what would work best for us. Since Erek is very much a man of action he we taking it all apart before I could even take a picture so there isn't any before pictures but we did get a few of the project as we were painting it.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA6cvH58I/AAAAAAAAAtQ/o6_XWh9DZqk/s1600/IMG_0581.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA6cvH58I/AAAAAAAAAtQ/o6_XWh9DZqk/s400/IMG_0581.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549209801252661186" border="0" /></a>We purchased a piece of wood for $22, it was enough to all parts the main shelf and legs. We also purchased some screws and paint. Total project about $35.<br /> <br />Here is a close up of it up on the mantel. I like the it is a very simple design and doesn't take way from the design of the mantel or the decor of the room. <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA6GhzmcI/AAAAAAAAAtI/RnxFRCSjpsA/s1600/IMG_0583.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLA6GhzmcI/AAAAAAAAAtI/RnxFRCSjpsA/s400/IMG_0583.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549209795291224514" border="0" /></a>Finally, the finished project with all the Christmas decor on the mantel.<br /> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLEns22JGI/AAAAAAAAAtg/uBIk1MAE4yk/s1600/IMG_0584.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TQLEns22JGI/AAAAAAAAAtg/uBIk1MAE4yk/s400/IMG_0584.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549213877209015394" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(102, 102, 204);">Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7166438586213365209.post-87849012133718010762010-10-29T18:31:00.003-06:002010-12-13T17:57:05.905-07:00Halloween FunI love Halloween. I love decorating for Halloween. I just want to show you a few of the things I have made for the holiday this year. This is my book shelf in our Office.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn6w007iI/AAAAAAAAAm4/dw3X-jDZxL0/s1600/PICT0050.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn6w007iI/AAAAAAAAAm4/dw3X-jDZxL0/s400/PICT0050.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533630826391334434" border="0" /></a>I got the pictures from the internet and put them in frames. It is hard to see the one in the top corner but it is of a skeleton riding a bike which I thought was pretty cool, and very fitting for our home.<br />My favorite project was the potions. I bought the 4 different bottles at World Market all for $16. There are tons of cool labels to put on bottles I got theses from <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovemanor/2864135339/in/photostream/">Love Manor </a>(They really know how to do Halloween.) There is tons of different labels to use. I put them on with Mod Podge so they will last and it wouldn't matter if they get wet. Once we had the labels on I let the kids in on the fun of making the potions. They thought it was so fun to come up with the colors and creations.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn6sVK0hI/AAAAAAAAAmw/pbce8QJmjbw/s1600/PICT0053.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn6sVK0hI/AAAAAAAAAmw/pbce8QJmjbw/s400/PICT0053.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533630825184809490" border="0" /></a>I used the Bottles as a table decoration for our family Halloween party too.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn7RtTH5I/AAAAAAAAAnA/CLIjd4gzFT8/s1600/PICT0025.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TMtn7RtTH5I/AAAAAAAAAnA/CLIjd4gzFT8/s400/PICT0025.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5533630835218128786" border="0" /></a>I also made these cute Halloween plates with the use of my friends Cricut machine and glass etched in the design. During their move they decided that they did not want to move with this old dresser. So they gave it to me to see if I would like to fix it up. It has been sitting in the garage for months now and I have big plans for it but life during the summer was crazy so it took a while to get around to it.<br /><br />I thought it was the cutest little dresser and I thought it would be so cute in a girls room. Unfortunately, there is no room in my little girls room for another dresser so I decided to make it for my niece. E just became a big sister when she got a new brother and sister this past week so she had given up her dresser to them. <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTuUIIVII/AAAAAAAAAhA/oACrxjbf9Mc/s1600/IMG_0293.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTuUIIVII/AAAAAAAAAhA/oACrxjbf9Mc/s400/IMG_0293.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529245760157668482" border="0" /></a>It was in pretty bad shape, so I recruited my handy man to help me out. The top was warped and curved up in the front. So it sat up about half an inch from where it should. We cut a new top for it out of a new piece of wood ($25 - still had some left over for another project). We also strengthened the drawers and replaced the nobs and pulls ($16).<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTuNFqkWI/AAAAAAAAAg4/wfuP78tw-AM/s1600/IMG_0446.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTuNFqkWI/AAAAAAAAAg4/wfuP78tw-AM/s400/IMG_0446.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529245758268281186" border="0" /></a>E's room was just recently painted her favorite color - pink. So I wanted to make the dresser white as to not compete with the bright color of the room. We first primed the dresser and then started painting ($12 - 2 cans of Kylon primer and 2 cans of white Krylon Spray paint).<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTfekgIoI/AAAAAAAAAgw/Oqe8RNxw6yo/s1600/IMG_0449.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTfekgIoI/AAAAAAAAAgw/Oqe8RNxw6yo/s400/IMG_0449.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529245505262985858" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTfKB3KgI/AAAAAAAAAgo/L8Y7HCRY4YI/s1600/IMG_0450.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTfKB3KgI/AAAAAAAAAgo/L8Y7HCRY4YI/s400/IMG_0450.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529245499748985346" border="0" /></a>It looked good Bright white but I really love glazing furniture now a days and I really love the way it makes it look. The details really stand out.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTefe60xI/AAAAAAAAAgg/rS8nKLoJd3Y/s1600/IMG_0456.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TLvTefe60xI/AAAAAAAAAgg/rS8nKLoJd3Y/s400/IMG_0456.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5529245488328135442" border="0" /></a>Here it is all finished, it is so cute. They have cute little plastic desks that they have had for 3 years now, and are really starting to out grow them. We are so tired of the constant mess of art supplies, paper and them never knowing where a pencil is when it is time for homework. Since we recently re-organized our study area, I thought it would be a good time to up grade their desks. This is a picture of their current desks, they have been good desks but are just not cutting it these days.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3dFge8I/AAAAAAAAAew/oNPaVrI9018/s1600/IMG_0453.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3dFge8I/AAAAAAAAAew/oNPaVrI9018/s400/IMG_0453.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327801670368194" border="0" /></a>I started out with the idea of using a filing cabinet for the drawers, lots of space for all their supplies. We found these 2 identical two drawer filing cabinets at the DI thrift store for a whopping $7 each.<br /><br /><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3_c-IGI/AAAAAAAAAe4/fcGUEy42mNo/s1600/IMG_0426.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3_c-IGI/AAAAAAAAAe4/fcGUEy42mNo/s400/IMG_0426.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327810895585378" border="0" /></a>Next we went to the Ikea for a table top. We considered making one out of wood ourselves until we found these at Ikea for $5.99 each, an amazing deal. I like these table tops not just for the price but also because they were already smooth, which didn't need any work. Also, I wanted them white anyways so it worked out perfectly. We also bought just one adjustable leg and a chair from Ikea for each desk. The cost of the leg and chair $30.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3Jz9E2I/AAAAAAAAAeo/f0K7bhiTAqg/s1600/IMG_0428.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpa3Jz9E2I/AAAAAAAAAeo/f0K7bhiTAqg/s400/IMG_0428.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327796496470882" border="0" /></a>Erek is my little handyman, he is just as involved in these projects these days as I am. But he loves it, I'm sure. He help put it all together and made sure it would hold up to the abuse my boys will give it over the next few years.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpajeVcStI/AAAAAAAAAeg/x22gO6oum3E/s1600/IMG_0433.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpajeVcStI/AAAAAAAAAeg/x22gO6oum3E/s400/IMG_0433.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327458408254162" border="0" /></a>Here is what we were in visioning.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpaircoaqI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/khYMNnfdqzU/s1600/IMG_0434.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpaircoaqI/AAAAAAAAAeQ/khYMNnfdqzU/s400/IMG_0434.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327444748200610" border="0" /></a>Last, I wanted to add some color. I wanted to do something fun that the boys would like and to also make them look cool in our office area. All we had to do was spray paint the filing cabinets. First, I use primer, just Kyron spray paint kind. Then, we painted the base in just a semi-gloss white from Krylon. On the drawers I also used Krylon Ivy Leaf. I totally love how it all came together. I love the Ivy Leaf color and how the drawers just pop.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpaiHhvI8I/AAAAAAAAAeI/76oXfutdKMA/s1600/IMG_0441.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpaiHhvI8I/AAAAAAAAAeI/76oXfutdKMA/s400/IMG_0441.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327435105936322" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpahjH87eI/AAAAAAAAAeA/37BXWpJSei8/s1600/IMG_0440.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oKk8vVo9z6g/TKpahjH87eI/AAAAAAAAAeA/37BXWpJSei8/s400/IMG_0440.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524327425334111714" border="0" /></a>Total cost of the project $43 for each desk! I'm way excited to have a great place for the kids to work on their home work. They love having a place of their own that they can organize and work on projects.<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(204, 102, 204);">Lisa</span>lisa winnetthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05323955697216129346noreply@blogger.com2
